Group Hug

You’ve probably heard of us, but you might not realise just how much we’ve grown. We operate all over the world, and we have lots and lots of different companies. Each one is a separate entity, some wholly owned by Richard Branson, others partly so. Each deals with its own recruitment.

The genesis of every Virgin company can be boiled down to this: There’s a market where consumers aren’t getting a good deal, nor are they getting much choice. Virgin senses their frustration and steps in. We break with convention and back up the challenge with an alternative, tangible Virgin solution.

So what do all these businesses do? It’s a pretty long list, but here goes: travel, media and telecoms, TV, health and fitness, finance, healthcare, drinks, spas, wines, publishing, beauty, experiences, radio, gaming, passenger motorbikes, music and even space tourism. Phew.

So our companies are all very different, but they all have the same approach to business. It’s an approach that’s about offering quality, real value for money and the kind of service that keeps customers coming back for more, again and again.

Doing our bit

At Virgin, we believe 100% that we owe it to our customers and our staff to ensure that our future economic growth is built on firm, ethically sustainable business models. Organisations need to be bold and creative, to develop radical new products and to find alternative ways of doing business. Since innovation and creativity are at the heart of the Virgin culture, we feel that our group of businesses is well placed to take advantage of all the opportunities this presents. And we’re already taking the Virgin approach to making that happen…

Project Aware From the biggest things right through to the smallest, we’re looking at and trying to fully understand the impact of everything we do. From this, we’re developing ways to minimise any negative impact and increase our positive effect on the issues affecting today’s society, like climate change. It’s a long-term programme, but we’re already making big steps forward – we’re investing in alternative fuel sources for our planes, using braking systems on our trains that direct electricity back into the national grid and much more. This is an area where we continue to focus our minds and you could play your own part in that.

Virgin Unite is our not-for-profit foundation that tackles environmental and social issues in an entrepreneurial way, both locally and internationally. We do this by investing in social developmental projects and by encouraging our staff to get involved with volunteering and fundraising to make a difference. We’re always ready to challenge convention and try out new ways of doing things. To learn more log on to www.virginunite.com.
